Our Loaded for Travel card helps you plan, budget and get the most out of your travel money. It’s way more convenient than traveller’s cheques and safer than cash. It lets you lock in exchange rates, has wide Visa acceptance and offers many more security features. With five different currencies to choose from, all on the one card, it’s the perfect travelling partner!
Whenever you use your card overseas, the amount of your purchase or ATM withdrawal will be deducted from your available balance in the currency you're spending at that time.
If you're spending in a currency not loaded on your card, the amount of your purchase or ATM withdrawal will be converted and deducted from the currency or currencies you have loaded. The card will check your other wallets for available funds in this order: New Zealand dollars, Australian dollars, United States dollars, British pounds and Euros.
You can check your balance via TXT, online or our automated phone service.
To check if text is available in the country you are travelling to click here, select the country and if the "SMS" column is ticked, then it is available on that network within that country.
You can load funds and add currencies onto your card anytime via internet banking or at your local PostShop. If you load a new currency using internet banking, a new wallet will automatically be created. Just select Loaded for Travel and the currency you wish to load from the list of Bill Payees. A new wallet fee will apply. Please see fees and limits. Other people can also load funds and add currencies onto your card using their internet banking.
We recommend you load a wallet in the local currency of each of the places you're visiting. The currencies you can load are NZ$, US$, AUD, Euros or GBP. If you spend in one of these currencies no additional currency conversion fees will apply.
If you're visiting a destination that doesn't use any of these currencies, we recommend you load some money into a NZ$ wallet to reduce your currency conversion costs. Full details on how the currency conversion fees are applied can be found in the fees and limits section.
